The best thing to do if you think you have it or the dot doctor will tag you for it is go through your doctor to set the test up. That way you're already covered when you go for your dot medical exam.

I think most drivers think it's BS because they've gone so long without the machine why do they need it now? And there right they didn't die for the last 20+ years there probably not gonna die because of sleep apnea any time soon.

Also companies are blanket testing people based on neck size and all that garbage that has been proven not to be a sign of sleep apnea and even the skinniest person can have it. So they are disingenuous about that and also they will payroll deduct 3x what a machine costs that the driver didn't want in the first place. So in part it's a scam and just another way to make a little more money per driver.

I would just be careful of the spammers like Mega companies trying to make an extra buck don't put yourself in the position of being wrongly diagnosed.

I would goto a doctor that's not paid by your carrier and get re tested and reapply to a better company. I read awhile ago Crete was scamming drivers with sleep apnea.

The problem I see is people getting diagnosed that actually don't have it. The megas in house testing is shady as is, I would hate to see someone get whacked with it for the rest of there career with something they simply dont have.

I dont mind the testing, what bugs me is the push and money grab from it.

This is an old quote but I never got tested by a mega carrier. I went to a real doctor in a real sleep clinic. My AHI came in at 109.1 which is ridiculous.

    Don't worry. I have apnea.

Ah sorry didn't look at date ya I mean I think it's ok if you know you have apnea and you wake up gasping and things. But if you have never had an issue and don't wake up or have much of the symtoms then all of a sudden you fail a company one I'd be questioning it for sure

Schneider is very bad about this. Two years ago when I made the mistake of going to them they had me do their sleep study. Yeah. Put on a glove and sleep in the truck. Of course their guy in the terminal said I had sleep apnea, and I couldn't leave until I signed for one of their machines. $1400 please, or payroll deduct. Went home, got a real sleep study done, wow no sleep apnea. Schneider didn't care, their guy said I had it, either use the machine or not work for them. I left.

Don't ever lie about any medical condition. Be up front, if anything were to happen he would be in trouble as well as the company. He can still find place that will work with him

No facts offered, just my opinion.
I believe sleep apnea is real. I believe cpap has helped thousands or more.
I also believe this whole testing program with mega carriers doesn't pass the smell test.I believe the number of drivers with diagnosed sleep apnea is grossly exaggerated. I believe Schneider is at the forefront of this farce.
Someone needs to take the time to follow the money. Reduced insurance premiums, kick backs from the cpap industry, I don't know. In my opinion, something stinks.
