First day of orientation in the books & so far everything is all good. Thought the weather was going to disappoint a Texas boy coming up north in the winter. It didnt...snowing pretty good right now. Bad timing too, as I had planned on walking down to the steakhouse tonight. Talked to my trainer earlier & there's been a change of plans. I'll ask Mark tomorrow who I'll be going with. Taking our road test tomorrow - AFTER all this snow.... Look forward to it. 8 of us in our class; 4 LTD, 1 LTL & 3 Dedicated. Magnum is really growing!

Wow pretty mega day, just did 645 before the truck went down, from the sound of your old truck I'm sure you were smiling all the way...

I guess the two biggest issues I have working here are 1) they only use Flying Pilots for fuel (which is a truck stop chain I loathe) and 2) our primary broker (when we have to use one) is CH Robinson. Pilot sucks, hands down. Their customer service sucks their rewards program sucks, and many of their locations suck. I have tried to use the app to see what my points and shower credits are...but I have changed phones since I used it last, so I forgot my password. I try to reset it, only to get the error 'must be at least 7 characters long with 1 alpha and 1 numeric character' which I do, even tried with a symbol included...all it gives me as an error code is [object Object]...what the *bleep* does that mean. And forget calling them...only between 8 and midnite, if you can get thru, then they say it must be my phone... funny, it did the same thing on my last Android too. Then they say, maybe I should get an iPhone...huh?excuse me? You want me to buy a $700 phone, just so I can use your stupid app? It would be easier to stop using Pilots.

And we use CH Robinson. This is a surprise. Mangnum seems to have a good reputation for being profitable, they do everything they can to maximize fuel mileage, they buy dependable equipment, they keep us moving, it surprises me to see them use a broker like CH Robinson...who's reputation among drivers who use brokers for freight refer to them as Cheap Heavy Robinson. I gave up after I spent 20 minutes on hold the other day, just to give them a delivery update(which they requested)...I figured they have my phone number, if they want an update, they can call...I did my part.

I like this company, I really do. But the association they have with some companies is just frustrating and confusing given the fact that in most other situations, they go above and beyond to be one of the most driver friendly places I have worked on a long long time. I hope these 2 things are the worst I have to deal with...everything else here is first rate. I guess if that is all I have to complain about, I've got it pretty good.

Absolutely, as long as my equipment stays reliable, and freight stays plentiful. And to those that claim e-log is going to ruin trucking, I disagree. Other than 2 instances where I pushed it until the e-nag was warning me, I have had no real issues with it...even on peoplenet.

As far as the company, they have their stuff together and do their level best to keep the miles rolling. They have enough people in the office that are former drivers to understand that if the driver isn't moving, no one makes any money.

And for 8yrs exp +, you start at .42 for the 1st 4 mos.

Here's a trick I use with CH, if I don't quickly get someone when I call I just hang up and call again, works pretty well for me. CH is a pain, but hey it helps keep us moving and our pay is the same either way.

Our owner sits on the Pilot/Flying J board o there's no chance that we will be changing our fueling anytime soon. I don't bother using their app, I have plenty of app's on my phone to help me find locations and my card works for points which is all I care about. If you're showering every day then I agree it's something to learn to deal with, I agree they are not the nicest and I often stay at Petro's myself and just hit Pilots for fuel.

Glad to see you are up and running well and hope the radio thing was sorted out.

Depends on miles, the average pay rate once experienced is $.49 and from there it's up to you on the miles, there are several who run 130K per year (and a number who make $.50) so in the $60K range is realistic.
