If you’ve ever run 17.5 tires, you’ll get to know about virgin blowouts. We run 100% Continentals now, which has greatly reduced them, but before that it wasn’t uncommon to have one blowout a month in the summer. Also running 65 or less when it’s really hot out helps.

Don’t remind me. I’m supposed to load 66k on a stretch step with 17.5’s next week. Last time i had 53k on the deck we lost 3 tires between BC and TN. That was even running slow with only 48k on the group of three.

I used.to run caps on my spread axle belly dump. Those tires took a heck of a beating and I never had any trouble in the 4 years I ran it. Always heavy, tight turns with a spread, lots of gravel and usually in a hurry. And they were just caps I bought from the tire guy, not my casings. And running a virgin or a cap low doesn't automatically mean they are gonna blow. It's extreme heat that causes blow outs. Or just junk casings. I've run a lot of Chinese tires too with no troubles

Did you find some of those Chinese tires to be a bit out of round or off balance? Noticed it a bit with the Westlakes, compounded by solid mounted walking beams on the trailer.

Not that I really noticed. I run them on drives or trailer. Never had any spin balanced and never noticed any crazy hop or vibration

I ran Ironman tires on my hopper. That thing are tired and the price was right. I didn’t have any issues with them.

These aren't too bad for a drive tire for the price if you're doing trucking that's harder on tires.

Down the road from where I used to work they were importing tires from overseas. Couple seacans a week. Gravel guys would come in and they'd fill their dump boxes with as many tires as they could stack in there.

    1) If the car is hit by an exploding tire, then they deserve it. All vehicles need to maintain a safe distance from each other. Now if the car is passing by you, poop or get off the pot. Don't hang out beside a semi. Ya know, cause of exploding tires.
    2) irregardless is not a word.
