So you get 70 hours in one payday and 61.25 hours in most paydays. How does that make better paychecks? In the long run it equals the same.

I don't know if someone's mentioned it but try trans am instead of Carolina I got felony's and they gave me a job not great by no means but better than 10 cent a Mile by far. Good luck
tucker Thanks this. -
Or mug you...seriously good advice, everyone has to start somewhere, however explore all options before locking down on one.

Just offering an alternative to the people saying 8.75 hours a day. My way is a happy medium with one day off between being barely productive and being super productive and having to stop for a day and half.
There's a je ne sais quoi dynamic about running 10 hours a day over 8.75 and that is dispatchers will appreciate a driver whose stats are showing to be just a little more productive. -
TransAm isn't a bad option but you will be doing LOTS of trailer swaps. They generally have good equipment with APUs too. Not a bad place to get started. I started there but I really don't like dealing with reefers. I can't sleep when the #### thing is running.

Wouldn't the second driver be driving 30 or 31 days because of no reset?
Logging another 1010 to 1515 miles? -
Gonna be another "right hand turn" thread, LoL~!
RedRover Thanks this. -
Well, 28 days is there to make the math easier at 4 weeks exactly. The first and third driver can also keep going 30 or 31 days and getting more milesarubajim Thanks this.

Now that I'm OTR and it's no longer theoretical, I just drive for however long is required to make the loads I'm dispatched under. I don't even pay attention to my 70 until I'm nearing the end of it and then do the required gymnastics to make the last load or two.
I've yet to have the ideal week where the freight allowed me to continue driving all of 70 hours with a 15 minute "pretrip" and all that. I usually start my clock for the day, go buy a red bull, have a smoke and take a leak. Turn on my lights, make sure nobody released my tandems or my kingpin and head on down the road. Average it about 22 minutes. That way when DOT look at my logs, it's less suspicious than always doing a 15.
It really depends on what kind of time constraints I am under though. Here in 6 hours, I'll be logging my 15 after creeping off duty to the fuel island, while I'm fueling, and then get to the consignee with not a second to spare. Should be exciting. Tune in next week...arubajim, G13Tomcat and scottied67 Thank this. -
A lot of states do not require fishing licenses if you use a cane pole, a collapsable fiberglass pole should make you a happy camper!
