I know you're right. Ruined many pairs of boots and gloves with the calcium. Used to haul shredded tire wire too am that stuff would do a number on any boots ya had. Spent lotsa time pullin tire wire out of my boots just so i could keep em on to go get a new pair. Had to start carrying spare boots for just tire wire loads.

Calcium Cloride and or diesel is what I used.......

sometimes we would line the floor with plastic if it was going to a landfill

If you use diesel on a state job in Ohio, you will be off the job, bought the load of asphalt and liable for repair of the road.

Shredded tire wire!! Boy is that stuff terrible. We loaded some of that a few winters back and it all froze up. We hauled cow feed after and had to get a washout. It was like 500 bucks. Needless to say we never hauled tire wire again.

Try gettin to come out of a normal bottom swing gate set up. Me an my pal got put on it as a dedicated daily run cuz the dispatcher in ottawa requested that we were to be the drivers to get the run. 1st trip on it and the new trailers they bought us to use on it didn't have barn doors. After 1st trip we didn't do another one till they made the gates 2 way operational.

Yep 10-4. I only ever hauled dirty dirt. Never hauled regular soil. For dirty dirt we bagged the trailer but that stuff was always goin to the hazmat landfill.

When I was 16 I drove a 1 ton F250 for one of my dad's friends, small time asphalt company that paid me cash. He handed me a pump sprayer and told me to spray the bed down, so I did. A few minutes later he came out of the garage and saw me spraying the bed down and said "Davey, what the f#$& are you doing?"
I said spraying the bed down like you said. Little did I know, he wanted me to spray the INSIDE of the bed...
