The most important thing you need to know is that in trucking as in any business, you have both, revenue and expenses. You calculate both by the mile. Mega carriers are fully aware that most of their rookie drivers are bad at math and they will take advantage of them. My advice is to focus on being safe and to minimize your expenses as much as possible. Make every dollar you earn go as far as possible. In the long run, safe driving will open doors of opportunity to make more revenue. So don't be too concerned with how much you are earning at first. Concentrate on safety. Get out and look. Slow down. Be patient. If you are a safe driver, the math will work out on it's own for you. Top paying companies want the drivers who have years of safe driving under their belt. Focus on that, make it your goal above all else.

Just get yourself a new iPhone. Then ask Siri to do the math.

Try seven 42 inch pipe pilings driven 140 feet into the ground and drilled out at 70 feet deep and the boss asks you how many concrete trucks do we need to order this morning to fill them up?
