This is yet another bad company!
I was contacted via FACEBOOK from a member from this company offering a clean 2019 Freightliner for lease purchase. So, I was like cool! This would be good for my husband and we went through the hiring process. They paid $42 for a plane ticket and I paid for him to get a decent seat since he is 6'4 and a pretty big guy. They told him just to bring a book bag and they would route him back home to get his stuff. We were cool with that. Low and behold! Another person calls him and says they have a nice KW T680 with APU. It has inverter and fridge. All the good stuff. Well my husband gets there and sees the truck and says wow. Where is the inverter and where is the fridge. None of those items were in the truck. Lets go a step further. The passenger seat was actually from a day cab. You know that the seat turns around in those trucks so that you can sit facing the table. Well not this truck. He started driving the truck and he called me and said this truck has some issues. Its like stalling a little. So they agreed to put in an inverter but asked him where they could find one or if he could find one and they would pay to have it installed. Now mind you, my husband does not know anything about Dallas but he has been trucking for 30 years. They were very evasive about the expenses and cost of truck. They expected him to pay $150,000 over 4 years for this POS Kenworth. He told them this truck is not worth $150k and wont make it 4 years. Oh and the truck has over 500,000 miles on it. He kept complaining and said ok look. I will put my fridge and microwave in it when I get home. They tried to give him load while he was at their mechanic shop. So they kept calling him to feel him out and then he just said. Change the seat and put the correct seat and I will put my fridge and microwave in and lets ride. Then they tried to give him a trailer with bad tires and the truck also had bad steer tires. They told him they would meet him at the truck stop with a new trailer 2022 but the plan was to put him out of their truck. They called him and told him that they feel it would be best if he didn't take this truck and they would get him back to the airport. Well we all know that story. They leave you stranded at the truck stop. So he decided to get as close to the airport with their truck but guess what? The transmission light came on and he had to limp and stop at a 7-11 store. So they met him at the store and picked up their POS truck and we know that we just dogged a bullet. Can you imagine if he was under a load and their truck broke down on his way to Florida. These are a group of Pakistani kids with master degrees in finance and business that have a little money but don't know anything about trucking. Had the nerve to email him a termination letter. That was the funny part. He never ran one load for them. They stated he breached their contract when they breached their agreement from day one about the 2019 Freightliner that they did not have and they even sent pictures of the truck. So sad and they are really nice people but need to learn that you cant play with people and make false promises. My husband would of taught them a thing or two with his experience. We had our own trucking business but the times and truck broke down so we are at the mercy of finding something else. But stay away from these kids!!!!

owner operator right now is garbage and it will only get worse as the economy is not picking up anytime soon.rightt now you will make more money being a company driver if you can put up with their bs rules and contracts as a company driver.do not believe me then download loadboard apps for free on your phone. Look how much they are paying by mile and the few loads available. Go somewhere and be stuck there. You get lucky find a cheap 2 dollar heavy load going somewhere and once there a dirt cheap paying load paying cents. If you sign to someone giving you a leased tractor and them finding the loads for you make the same as a company driver if you lucky or barely cutting even

Did you and your husband agree to L/P the KW with 500k on the clock at $150,000 over 4 years? It seems you alluded to not really liking the idea, but ultimately taking the deal, as your husband did take off with the truck and said he’d put his fridge and microwave in it.

If so, I would encourage you to avoid ANY L/P in the future. They’re, at best, way over priced, and, at worst, designed in a way that the likelihood of you ever owning the truck is slim to none.

Neither of those scenarios is appealing to me.

I wouldn't agree to pay $150,000 for any truck that I'm not picking out from a lot and having a mechanic look at before signing anything.

Seriously don't understand how this driver got on a plane in the first place. There were so many missed signals. Sometimes drivers are just as responsible for "bad companies" existing.

Just for reference, but that’s about what my boss pays for new Pete 389s. I think he pays a little more, but not very much more.

No way chiquidracula. unless he has a large fleet purchase deal. Brand new 389s are around 225-235k. Why? Because brand new rigs are hard to find. Even one year old trucks with 90k miles are available but a little difficult to find which run around the 200k mark. Last I checked you cannot even order a new one because they are backed up to a year in orders.

Maybe the price he’s paying is after trade-in. I forgot he trades in the old ones.

We’ve received 5 this year and 10 more are on the way. They trickle in 1 or two a month.
