Anyone on here in one of the dock worker positions ?

Thinking about jumping ship and giving it a try. I'm in SC not far from the Richburg glass account.

If anyone works there or has anymore info about it let me know.

Trying to figure out if it's worth coming off the road for. 4 10 hour shifts sounds nice.

What is the pay? That's a long commute for you.

I'd definitely do if I were you especially if you value time at home

It sounds good but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot either. I've only been driving for about 4 months so I don't have a lot of experience. However being home every night sounds great and the pay is decent.

I've been in the army for the past 12 years so jumping ship after only being at a company for 4 months it's strange to me.

Going to have to do some thinking on it for sure.

Are you already with maverick hauling glass? If so the dock work should be easy, well not easy easy but you would know how to load glass.

I hate loading glass but I would do it to be home. 4 days 10 hour shift? Not bad.
I been to that plant like twice to pick up a load, extremely tight, never met the maverick guy.

I'm driving for another company currently. Nothing bad to say about the company but being home every night instead of only weekends sounds tempting.

Having a CDL will help you tremendously as a dock worker for Maverick as they do do some driving occasionally, if your seriously interested try and stay where you are till you have six months OTR experience or you'll have to repeat as a student driver before you head to full time work at the docks.

Yeah I wouldn't want to have to go back out on the road as a trainee just to be a dock worker. Kind of seems counterproductive. The whole point for me applying is to come off the road and be at home. Thanks for the reply

    TexasMike Thanks this.
