FYI Schneider only way to go. More diverse options then any company. Don't listen to horror stories tiu read on these forums. Schneider offers tankers, vans, flat bed, reefer tons of dedicated accounts decent home time. And has a ex military you get some extra cash every month.

Hey Razor, thanks for all your posts! I live in Los Angeles, I called Maverick, and they dont hire from my area. Any thoughts and ideas? They are number one on my short list!
    Thanks,

Also maverick has newer trucks, where as schneider still has the old century's that will break down constantly since I will be a new driver. If I keep having mechanical problems then that means I will not be making any money.

Do flatbed, higher ceiling for advancement among many reasons. If you've got a few brain cells connected you can easily handle learning to drive a truck and flatbed securement at the same time.

Actually the fleet is more newer trucks then old. By end of year every thing below 2010 should be gone. Also the newer trucks are in the shop more then the older ones.

Unfortunately Maverick only hires on the east side of the country. We don't run much farther west than I-35. Every now and then they might have a rare load that goes out there and we do run into Canada out that way but that's Glass and TCD only. So unless you're up for relocating there's not much you can do.

While Schneider would no longer be my first choice I would still recommend them if you're just starting. Just be aware that they have installed temperature sensors to prevent idling. They are on trucks in every decision besides Bulk. Those trucks have to be able to idle to run the PTO pumps on them so they won't install the sensor on them. So if you still want a somewhat physical job and a truck that will idle to keep you comfortable I would say go to the Bulk division.

Don't think so bad about the Centurys. They may not always look the best, but there's a reason those were the fleet standard for everybody for a long time. They are a fairly sturdy design. When I started for SNI I had a 2006 Century with 800K miles when I got it. I put another 80k miles on it before I the Turbo failed and They finally pulled me out of it into a New Cascadia.

My Cascadia spent a Several days on multiple occasions in the shop for a Cruise Control issue and DEF problems.
