    Really? your going to try to twist my words in an attempt to discredit me. Show where I typed I was on line 3 for the time I was involved in the accident? Please.

    You know that and I know that, but all the same, there is at least one who will never be convinced of anything of the sort.

    Legal, perhaps. I'll give you that.

    However, your postings on this subject are giving the impression that Swift's way is the ONLY way, when any driver worth his salt knows that is absolute bunk.

    What leads you to believe that Swift didn't simply choose to go above and beyond what's required for no other reason than a means of CYA?

    I know a guy that drives a yard dog near where I live he never leaves the company property. I need to make sure he is keeping his on duty and off duty times right. I hope he is properly logging his rest room breaks. I would hate for him to get a log falsification ticket

    @Xzay

    Yeah, I totally understand the intent of your thread. Unfortunately it go Scottiejacked.

    When I drove for Swift and was either on a tight schedule OR had the option to deliver early I made a habit of waking up in plenty of time to get totally awake and prepared for my day and be sitting looking at the Qualcomm clock ready to log pretrip precisely at 10 hours sleeper berth. Sometimes I used the 8/2 split sleeper if necessary to make a delivery on time.

    The thing is you will have spurts of activity, driving hard and sometimes flipping schedule from days to nights and vice versa as loads require. But then there will be times you kick back and enjoy the man cave aka sleeper berth, like when you make a morning delivery and your next dispatch doesn't pick up until the next morning. Savor those times. I usually catch up on any sleep deficit and watch a movie during those down times.

    The advice to limit sleeper berth time to maximize income is true whenever you are under load. This goes along with limiting your off duty time and trying as much as possible to drive as close to 11 hours within 12 hours as you can, don't take all 14 hours to drive maximum miles.

    Then there are the enjoy life loads, the ones with an appointment that can't be changed so no big rush to get there. You can rush and then wait in a ####ty location for 18 hours, or stop and smell the roses along the way.

    Xzay and MachoCyclone Thank this.

    I read that you said I said something about being on line 3. 99% of what I was talking about was line 1 and 2 with a hint that jumping from line 2 to 4 back to 2 or 3 would not be correct as I interpret the FMCSA as line 1 is relieved from all duties pertaining to the job.

    Dont pay any attention to that. Many of these YouTube truckers like to talk a big game about being hard runners. Most us in the real world operate on appts set by shippers and receivers. Sure, go ahead, run hard, get there 5hrs early, feel good about yourself as you sit outside the gates waiting.

    Personally I would rather spend that time at a truck stop or at the very least a rest area with bathroom facilities...but that won't sound as impressive on a video.
