I would not think you will just run the NE. I have been all over in my little over a month being solo. I run short runs, long runs whatever the heck they send me and I get all over the place. Currently up in Oregon after going from San Antonio to salt lake to Sumner WA.
I guess it just depends on where your at. Personally I prefer everything west of Oklahoma but will take what ever they give me. I have been averaging 2900 miles a week and I had time off during the past month.
Just message your DM and ask if they got something where you wanna go.
May I start my Diary

Thats good news. I am still trying to get everything together for my orientation. I would hate to think I am going to stay in the east. I've seen enough of that. If I am going to run I want a change of pace. I was stationed at Yuma Proving Grounds in the early 80's and would really like to go out west for a while for a change of pace. My buddy who is going to be my mentor is based out of Texas so I know for at lesat a while I will get to be back out west.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Bl I apologize for jumping in on this thread to ask a few questions. I hope you don't mind if I ask a question now and then. Please keep updating I am learning alot from you all.

Anyway, try to call the lease recruiting department and see what they offer from that end. You already talked to your TM and FM, I gotta tell ya my FM was Po'd that I didn't come to here first about leasing a truck. I believe right now would be a good time to pull the trigger-- 23 days no payments (gives you a head start to bank up some miles and money) and 30 days anything you find wrong on the truck Swift pays 100% to fix it. Spring is coming with supposedly good freight so worst case scenario the truck sits in the shop a lot getting fixed up but so what, freight is slow now, and the truck will be in tip top shape to run hard when the freight hits hard. In my first 30 days, I only ran 5700 miles and the truck broke down twice on the road, was in the shop for 11 days. No big deal, no payments, truck is running cherry now, I'm just ready for lots of 3000 mile weeks like I'm reading from some of you fine fellows.Rotten Thanks this. -
Thanks Scottie,
I talked to the L/P department awhile ago, and was told that within 1-2 months, I could get with the program. Right now just trying to talk to them again and see what new trucks are comming in. As far as the first 23 days, I will have them still take out the payment and place it in the maintenance account and get that started, and then when need to fly to China late this summer for 10 days, will have the truck payment safely put away.
Rotten, feel free to jump in whenever you want. As far as the East, from what I was told, lots has to do with the terminal that you are out of, and also the area of the planners. With me, I was stuck in The Great Lake Regional and PA and NJ areas.
Well yesterday, I made a rookie mistake. Dropped a trailer and was starting to pull away, and I think that you can guess. Yes, forgot to disconnect the trailer air line. Snap, away it went. Luckily there was a Car Quest parts store close by. The shipper call them, and they delievered me a set, $40.00. Was just inside the Pilot here, and they wanted $35 for just one. On road thanked me for fixing the problem myself. Heck, how hard to change a air line.
Well right now sitting here in the Pilot and watching the skies. Some serious Tornado warnings for this area. There was talk of one that touched down not far from here. Warnings in effect until 2 a.m., and right now the skies are looking somewhat strange.
In the morning picking up a load from P&G in Albany, and start to head to Houston. Will not be delivering. They are already setting up a relay. My hours are crap. 10 available in the morning and pickup another 6.5 Monday morning.
Everyone, be safe and take care. -
In my almost 20 years of driving, this was a first for me, being unloaded like this. Paper mill place in GA. Sent the pic to my wife in China, and she could not believe it, especially when I told here that I was only about 2/3rd"s of the way up. It was cool to watch them shake the truck and trailer up and down, watch the ramp go up all the way then down, shake some more, then back up again and shake it some more. Reminds me of a song, but your left foot in, put your left foot out, put your right foot, shake it all about. Oh Oh, telling my age here.
Well, I thought that I was going to be relaying this load since my hours were pretty short, and I guess that I will be delivering instead. My last PTA showed that after mt, I will have about 1 hour left for the day, enough time to get to a T/S, like going to find parking around Houston at 6 in the evening. Going to HEB in Houston, del at 1600, which means that I get to sleep in in the morning. Only about 250 miles away. I guess that I will just head back west on I-10 to Katy, since pretty sure that the ones on the 610 loop will be full. There is always the terminal, but afraid will lose the MT, also I think that they would prefer me to come there, less miles. How is the Houston terminal as far as parking and other things and getting a load out of there. Hard to say what they will do with me since I have home time for April 3.Attached Files:

haha...I was there about a week ago....dude couldn't get all the paper out so he let it down and i had to go over to the dock and get a fork lift guy to move things around in the trailer ..then back up on that ramp again for another shake down......lol...while he wasw shaking the #### out of my sled...I turned around and on the wall was a sign that said "do not shake tractors" Dude said he had only been doing this for 7 months...I was looking for an exscape route if things went wrong.

Think I'd be asking to drop the triler and let 'em shake away. Can't see having all my %&#$ scattered all over the truck.
-
That is not an option. Luckily I knew about it. in the Directions to the place it warns you to secure everything. Injun, the worst part for you, big sign in the Guard Shack, all pets must be chained outside the gate.
Shoe, saw another truck just in front of me that also had this happen. He came off the ramp, and had to back up to a dock. Even the directions said that they will shake the truck. -
Don't go to the Houston terminal unless you want to lose your trailer. better have a pre-plan when you get to the guard shack! Go right up the road to the Pilot or Loves. Houston has no showers and so on.
better to stay away from there if you plan on bringing an empty with you.The Challenger and Rotten Thank this.
