Actually, yes you will.
Get that job at Kohls... and get a second job at Walmart.
Voila... you got driving OTR beat by a mile.
Maybe instead of posting who's bad, easier to say who's good?

Just curious. If you think trucking is so bad then why are you here commenting? Shouldn't you be out making all kinds of money in another job to prove your point that trucking doesn't pay well instead of being here?
Lab work, TankerP, Milr72 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ding Ding Ding!
Give the man a bonus for figuring out ol' Joes' agenda.plankton Thanks this. -
He needs to make sure we are aware of just how miserable we’re all supposed to be. Content truck drivers are not to be tolerated.

I get that. It's just im starting out in September, dont need truths and horror stories thrown my way already. Let me at least get in the seat before I already know my life is doomed

[Please check the thread title & the board forum it was posted in. You want a fluff job about the state of OTR trucking today? Well there are other forums for that.
I think people who don't know, need to know that a large segment of trucking IS bad. Know one is saying it is ALL bad.
You want to drive in the biggest segment of OTR ? Drive a forklift or a security golf cart the same hrs as OTR & you can make the same money in most cases.
Here's the simple math- avg OTR job for a 2yr motivated veteran in OTR 50k divided by avg paid hrs of 60hrs a week (you WILL work more unpaid)? effective hourly rate $18.94 per hr with no OT. 60hrs a week as a forklift driver with 2 yrs where I live at $14 an hr? $29,120 + $21,840 in OT= $50,960. Same hrs with no OT? $43,680. The OTR advantage is living in a truck & perdiem to offset living costs. How long do you want to be a hobo on wheels? I lasted 6.5yrs but do you think the current generation can or wants to? LOL nope.tman78, Surfer Joe, plankton and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sure they will. Give them a smart phone, a tablet and a game console and tell them they’ll be alone in their freight hauling RV.
What do you think all of these shorts and flip flop wearing steering wheel holders are? Lol
No pride, no self respect, no work ethic, just them and their electronic gadgets.
Lol -
Must be talking about the 20 somethings, which would not be me. And I would agree with you on that
