Ok so Just recently I was teaming and my teamate and I had a disagreement and he took off. The next day I call my company to ask about how I can get paid because he was first seat. I didn’t know first seat gets paid for the team which means I would have to rely on him to get my share. Anyway long story short My company said the best I could do was sue the guy, They had me on a load but I refused it and they took me off that load so I wasn’t under dispatch or anything. I told them I was headed back to the yard. When I get to the yard Again I ask if theres anyway I could get compensated and they said I couldnt get the funds from the maintenance acc or a hometime credit. So then they give me $300 advance that I’d have to pay back if I signed another contract.
instead I applied to another company and got a job offfer. I returned the ex company’s equipment to their Home terminal, i left it clean with the keys in the truck and few pieces of trash (two pizza boxes and an empty water gallon) and Basically I quit without telling them, the new company paid for my flight to them.
now Ex company is threatening me with abandonment.
Is this just a scare tactic or is my career in jeopardy?

You got texts, tell them to F off, they wouldn’t pay you, so technically you worked for the first seat guy.
motocross25, AModelCat and Str8Lurkn Thank this. -
Call your states labor department and file a complaint.
cuzzin it, Bean Jr., Str8Lurkn and 1 other person Thank this. -
WTF kind of company operates that way? Having one employee (who isn't in the payroll dept) being responsible for paying their co-worker. Sounds like some shady ####.
Dennixx, lester, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Well my new comp hired me technically because I assumed they would have said somethinf about it. DAC must have came back clean im in day 2 of orientation.
And i was a “alliance driver” with stevens transport lease program for 1 mo. No way I was under contrCt either bevause they wanted me to sign a new one after homie quit -
I bet its on your DAC, but the new company doesn't care.
I see strange DAC entries daily, but I can see through the BS ones. You know, a driver with a bunch of "Review" and "Yes" for rehire from a few places, but one along the way claims "truck abandonment under load and feces on floor" is obviously trying to poison the well. As we only hire experienced drivers, I cannot say what decisions we would make with abandonment inquiries in only a month at the first employer, though. I'd bet those places will hire anyway as they are making more profit per load with the lower pay a newbie earns. -
When did DAC put a box to be checked for "feces on floor"? Can you give the code# for that?
-
There is a remarks/comments section... not all carriers choose to exercise this function.
The same carrier also put this information on the driver's Employment Verification form we sent them. Its always nice to see who will try to poison someone's past out of spite. -
Maybe on the employment verification but not on DAC. No free form on DAC
-
Perhaps. I can't remember the details of every applicant I see. This one stuck out, though, as every other employment verification and DAC entry was basically a glowing recommendation, but this one? Totally out of place.
