It can be done. I tried a couple freight lanes that nobody would want and believe me you still don't want them lol. So I went back to my original plan that works and it still does.
I booked 3 loads I pick up Monday and deliver the 3rd load on the following Monday. So Monday to Monday I will gross $5459.62 on 2345 loaded miles. avg 2.32 a mile. That's about 390 gallons of fuel on the high end. You guys do the math. So it can be done. One is Hazmat no tarp 44k lbs, Mili no tarp 35k lbs, and last is 8ft tarp 14k lbs.Last edited: Jan 19, 2013
blacklabel Thanks this. -
So you don't have your empty miles figured into that?

Lenrod Thanks this. -
I got here at the yard on Thursday, and this is Sat. with no load. Yes there is freight, but the only thing paying going to real bad areas, like Texas or OK.
I've been told they have guys been sitting all week out there trying to get anything out.
Maybe I'll just go back to the house. Probably good thing I don't have truck payments.rockyroad74 Thanks this. -
Sometimes you have to put on your walking shoes and go out and find something. I wouldn't just sit there waiting for someone else to find my load. Mercer can pick up more accounts if drivers would go out and look for new loads. -
Ya drivers would if they made something off that account when I was leased to a company they paid me 90% off the load if I hauled it and made 5% off anyone else that pulled it but mercer is not going to help you because you helped them

, but also know that I really didn't understand the loadboard and what areas to stay the hell out of. I tried to stay out of florida and he talked me into a load going to jacksonville, where i sat for 3 days. And it would've been better to deadhead to sc or ga I later realized.

On your own, you use the advanced search. Use the "Mile Radius Of Origin" option. That's all I use.
I don't know how Van Freight runs at all. That's where you have to ask your coordinator that. Also it is good practice to check the area where you're going first before you pull the trigger on a load.
Just my 2 cents. I know nothing compared the others here but, I won't steer you wrong. -
Didn't you hear we work very hard here.... with very high miles..very low pay.... run!.... lol
