I finally found a recent picture of a Mercer van truck on the web and they are Great Danes.
Back in September Chasity said I could have a brand new one and that the average for vans in August was $1.64/loaded mile. I realize that is less than flats and steps but my back is done with flat decking and my trailer is sold when I get home so maybe I will try Skateboardman's system on the van side and see how it works. I'm sure that the shorter trips will pay much better than the coast to coast runs same as with decks. Also Northern Tool is building a new distribution center in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so that will make a good triangle running between Savage, MN, Fort Mill, SC and there. I'm told that I live in a really good area for their van side also. I've been watching their broker board for quite a while and Georgia is a really hot state for their van freight.

The Mercer Load board seems to still be down. Maybe Mercertown shut down for holiday weekend. L.O.L.

Going back to bumping docks. Wow.
I've always found when I gotta bump a dock, its either gona take awhile to load or somebody's got a bad attitude.

Im not a a mercer driver but follow the thread.. My question is do any of you think it would be better to run flatbed under your own authority? I know there are added expenses but is mercer worth it in the end?

Now he's asking to open a large can of worms. But I'll let someone else get that started

Well.......That all depends on wether you can sell your services or not. One thing is for sure, under your own authority you would have more available freight to pick from, but if you can't sell yourself then it would be a lost cause. I have been thinking about reinstating my authority, but don't like the added regulatory paper work that goes with it. I will more than likely just stay where I am.
