Today I sent my bills in thru trippak app. on my Iphone and it worked well. I was little surprised.
And I do not print my logs every day. Not sure why one would want to. I usually wait till I get the 10 day notice on the load board and then send in 10 days at a time. I'm looking forward, to when we can just send them in thru eclipse like other companies already do.

 

Because you have to. The rules for a computer generated log are not the same as a EOBR.

Orientation guy told us a electronic sig is legal, but it seemed wrong to me. It's not that hard to sign them. I have to wait until my 30 day free trial is over before Mercer will give me the password. I'll have to use the Eclipse trial version for now and copy it to paper each day.

 

We digi sign a lot of documents in the military.

 

Remember that we're talking about FMCSA and some really old laws that don't really make sense anymore.

I was told there is something special one way or another to work with Mercer's paperwork.

*edit* This scanner will charge from the USB port off of my netbook.

 

What ever, to your letter. I know I've ask the DOT at the scales and other officials and they say as long as I can print it upon request, not that it has to be printed. And during inspection, they never ask me to print it, just look at it on the computer.
Also I digitally sign it and that is legal and works as well.

 

Digital signature is not legal, per the regs. You are correct in that you must only have the capability to print, on demand.

You can purchase through eclipse log software company a digital signature that is legal.
AutoCar your trying to read between the lines. It does not state you can not use a digital signature. The government has been using them for quite some time.
Maybe you do not realize what a digital signature is. Where do you get your information?
A digital signature would be in the drivers hand writing. It is a copy of your signature.

 

Wrong. A digital signature is entirely different, what Eclipse logs provides is a digitized signature. Digital signatures generally involve certificates and are used to authenticate the author or authenticity of a document. Digital signature has become the commonly used term among drivers and companies, but it is just as inaccurate as every semi-auto weapon being categorized as an assault weapon. Common usage does not make it correct.

And after multiple people post the regs that so clearly state the log must be printed every day and signed in the drivers handwriting, this is still argued? Ability to print on demand is for the current day's log, not the previous 7. Whether or not any specific DOT officer asks to see printed copies is irrelevant. Fully read the Eclipse web site and they say the same thing, logs must be hand signed, the signature option is for fax or email logs.
