I'm looking on there everyday and I'm sorry a O/O can't run under $1.50/mi I was about to lease a truck onto mercer but as a truck owner I couldn't make any money I'm not even sure I could keep a drive.

I told chris my truck needs to gross $4,500 a week all he keeps saying is all the money I would save by leasing that truck on. Only savings I could see is $600 a month for insurance I get fuel discounts now I always end up with a credit on IFTA the only good thing I see is getting paid faster

Most truck drivers expect about $1,000 a week take home to live in a truck all week I pay 27% of gross to the truck at $4,500 that comes out to $1,250 than pull taxes out that's $200 a week than I pay workmans comp taxes ect that cost me about $200 more a week. To make $4,500 a week that truck burns 50% of that money for fuel tolls ect.

So how can people make money at $1.50/mi?? All I can see is CPM runs $1.10/mi pluse $.42/mi "if you want to work for driver wages" but who wants to do that there's no frofit to anyone put mercer!!

I couldn't even get them to send me a screen shot of a load search.
How are you able to access their in house board to see the rates?

I was with Mercer for a year - the first three months I had the coodinator from hell, dumber than a box of rocks! I had so many issues and wasn't making any money. I finally got another coordinator when the first one started accepting and rejecting loads without talking to me. Things were good for a while with the new coordinator, and I was running all the time. But since December things have gone right in the toliet for Mercer. There rates are cut throat because the agents are pocketing more or outsorucing the load. I had a load get dispatched to me and then the agent said it was cancelled, only later to find out that it was given to a non-Mercer o/o. And I was out with Mercer from Jan 2 til Jan 24th and only brought home $2000 after everything. I was sitting all the time and when I questioned it I was told it is bad out there and they can't pull loads out of nowhere. I finally quit on Jan 24th because I was accepted on a load, and then cancelled. When I called in they said it was an accident and was supposed to go to another driver, that hopefully I understand because if it were me I would want it fixed. The when I called driver relations, they said my coordinator, who I thought was great, told them I was lazy and had to be begged to pull loads. Yeah, I have to be begged - when the load doesn't even cover the costs why put the wear and tear on my truck. Now because I turned my leased trailer in I was told I will get a bill in the mail for the repairs of the trailer (which is in great shape) or I will be sued. Mercer used to be a family company with a good reputation - but now it's a big joke and doesn't even get respected. My suggestion is unless you are vacationing and like to sit around - get out of Mercer while you can.

Seems to be a good place if your a vacation trucker. you know hang around in truckstops and live in your big custom sleaper but for someone who wants to hustle and take home a check every week not too good

I was hauling flat not van. And it's pretty bad when CRST is getting better rates and more loads than Mercer. Another problem with Mercer is that they are so far up the governments ### to keep their contracts, that they have completely ridiculous polices that are almost impossible to follow. They took the FMCSA rules and went crazy. My brother hauls for Mercer, and when he got a DOT viloation of just 7 points, they said that their policy was to triple it - so they have him down for 21 points. They have too keep so many available trucks for the govt contracts, so they are always signing guys on because they are always losing trucks. My coordinator told me the week before I left that I better just get used to $1.60/mile.
