You are correct, 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing, but think about this, if all their owner operators are going broke wouldn't they then get 100% of nothing? Because if all their owner operators are going broke, they will go out of business, what does that leave these big evil owner operator companies? Thats right, you guessed it, 100% of nothing. You should really think before you get all pissed off and start throwing around wild accusations.
I agree with you on the trailer rental fees that SOME of these carriers are charging, they are high. As for the insurance, I can only speak of what we at Mercer have the OPTION to buy from them. I cannot, and probably will never beable to find insurance this good and this cheap anywhere else, so who cares if they mark it up a little and make some momey off of it? I don't, because I am still better off buying it thru them. As far as the transaction fees for the TCH card we have the OPTION to use, I don't care if they are only getting charged .01, and charging me 1.75, with the fuel discounts we get it more than makes up for it. And as far as skimming off the top of freight bills goes, I don't know if any of these big evil owner operator companies are doing it or not, but they and small companies are accused of this all the time. If you don't like the rates offered don't haul it, simple as that.
People need to quit worrying about what others are doing to make money, last I checked this is still and free country and we are free to run our businesses as we see fit. Bottom line is this, these companies are paid on a percentage just like we are, so what do they really have to gain by keeping rates low? Because not only would this affect us, but them as well. Contrary to what you think you believe, they have a vested interest to see us be successful, not broke.

I was in the North east new england area and I made lemonade out of it. If I sat like a spoiled brat I wouldn't have made much at all. Call me a liar all you want. To make it even more unbelievable for you. I had no buddies to help me out getting into trucking. My former career ended on 9/11 and between that and trucking I moved to the south and sold guns at gunshows. Summers are slow at gunshows so I put myself in trucking school because I was bored.
my truck number is posted here a picture is right down there. And to make it even more unbelievable, besides personal experience I learned the good stuff right here in these forums. I learned how to get around at Mercer right here by Oscar and Skateboard. They are the biggest help for me. Infact, I didn't listen to skateboardman he told me where I should run and I didnt go there. And he was right again. But, i'm fine, my bills are paid. I would've done better if I listened to him most likely.
now let me finish my other post since im all delivered.
Fuel cost $1629.83 + $700 per week ($100X7 days) ins, maint, and other expenses. I broke my red and blue air lines I paid $86.89 . I still had 1/4 tank of fuel and was a 14 mile d/h to my next p/u. I stayed at big charlies truck stop and had dinner with 4 other Mercer drivers and p/u in the morning. Was a good time too.
Oh my net is $2505.72
Sarcasm: Maybe I should have sat waiting for that perfect load and complained and cried about no freight instead. I would've been snowed in too.
I book all my loads. Only thing I use my coordinator for is to set me up to match me on loads. He found me my first load the day i was ready to go at Mercer. He may have called me one other time since then but I cant remember.
I don't appreciate the disrespect but it does tell me a lot about you so maybe I do appreciate it lmao!!! So instead of calling me a liar why don't you jump ship again and bash everyone for your failures.
Peace love! lol -
FL to OK is still a go and i already booked a Hazmat load out of there paying 2.10 p/m about 1100 miles. I'm booked to 2/18 I already committed to a load on the 19th. It didn't run the board yet.
the 14th I'm taking the day off going to the hotel in my sig. lol -
breaking your red and blue air lines tells me alot about you to my friend and probably paid someone to put them back on for you
-
86 bucks is only the cost of the lines, no labor. My landlord runs a road service and I know he would have charged, at a minimum, another 100 dollars, but probably alot more.

Lol what is this elementary school? Ok Ill tell the story. I delivered to UMASS on a Saturday however is was still extremely tight where they needed me to go. While they were unloading me I heard a pin hole leak in my red. So I drove to the dead end road they let me park over night in previously. Since i was empty I decided to swap my airline so I can take it to the nearest truck stop. After I swapped the lines i checked for leaks and saw my blue had a pin hole also so I dropped my trailer and went and bought the lines and came back. 18 mile round trip. So if I listened to you guys I would have paid for a road call and still waiting for my perfect load. Lol
Wow look at this new guy. And I don't have your wisdom to boot. -
