Shew. I feel myself out of breath after reading that. The part that sticks out most to me is the part where Walmart comes to town. I have to wonder does a mercer lease operator see him or herself as a business owner? Are they subject to the same adverse effect of the mega carriers? Oh yes more than you think. Any company that has to recruit and traine is at a serious disadvantage from the beginning. I have three trucks. The customers that I sought out look for experience which I'm sure most of you have but with the larger company you never know. I've used it as a selling point and it's true. I will pull a broker load and I'd say you pull more than you realize. Just because it's a broker load doesn't mean that it's not a good load if you have the leverage to negotiate which a lease operator does not have. Broker credit reports are readily available.I'm not trying to pursude or sell anything to you people. The ultimate point that I want to make is there should be for a healthy market more independents and less mercer. It's easy for a group of folk that own no trucks and are not the people living on the road to quote a rate. I'll finish with the insurance part of the rant. You're paying insurance and tags as well no matter how you look at it or how you break it down weather mercer does it for you or you do it yourself it's there. These items you want to know how I pay for? When I quote my rates. I quote them. Not a agent or broker whichever term you prefer. When I buy tires I shop and I buy. When I send somebody a invoice for trucking my names on the remit to address. The 25 or 30 percent stays with me and over the coarse of a year it works. Small business is what the country needs to embrace again and small business needs to be held to a higher standard. I wouldn't think for one minute that mercer is insulated for centralization.

LOL. I put almost 75k miles on my truck last year. Most of that coast to coast. Almost all of it before Sept. I still haven't hit 6k on the new truck (45 days with it as of tomorrow) so I might hit 50k this year? I really have been mercerized. Lol

Now I don't hate Mercer Landstar Bennett any of them or the people that work for them as many of my friends and family have. But I'm certain most of you are talented and seasoned and won't reach your full potential there and I'm certain of it but for some reason that makes folks hostile. Very odd
