So it's 1099 time, any of you care to share what you made while running at Mercer?

Well it seems some people are not happy about contract changes however minor. It now covers things like ELD required and proper use of it. Also covers use of Mercer Mobile App. We will be able to get our own tags if we want now, and can choose also get our own IFTA and file, which would require showing quarterly proof of filing to Mercer, or continue as before and have Mercer provide IFTA and do all payments and filings. Basically they have brought the contract, which was last revised 18 years ago, up to date with today's customer driver requirements for the most basic of freight tracking plus the impending ELD deadline.

Some see it as just business as usual and others see a massive conspiracy to take away all their rights. To each their own. I have seen a couple people quit over ELD's in the two days Ive been here . I will say none of them seemed to have any understanding of how they worked, nor did they wish to learn. All seem part of those who have their minds made up that it is the most evil thing ever invented and they will find a way to not use them, which means quitting.

I'm going to have to take mine to the shop and see if they can get it connected properly. Everyone keeps telling me the ELD makes them speed, and I still can't seem to get mine to affect the speed of my truck one bit. Must be because it's an antique Freightliner because it does seem most of the people that it affects that way are in Pete's and KW's. Maybe it's the complete lack of chrome on my truck? I don't know, I will have to work on that tomorrow.

Just saying, my freightliner has some chrome and has been known to do a few over the speed limit....but that was because the ####### driving it got tired of the guy in front of him swerving all over the highway, had nothing to do with the qualcomm either... (this is the mega carrier ELD for those of you that don't know.)

    roshea Thanks this.

ELD is not bad . In fact I like ELD so much I would never take a job again were I had to file a paper one.

This is America you are free to not do them , however your competition will.

Load tracking is not a big deal . I'm not sure what people think is wrong with being tracked . It's a service for customers.

This is America and your free to not be tracked , However you competition is willing .

I think the electronic tally for IFTA makes life easy ,
I don't see what the big deal is .

This is America .. you get the Idea

Well, it's not the brand. I have a KW and mine has never made me speed. I'm going to vote it's the chrome that does it. Take that stuff off and see if it slows them down.

roshea, taxihacker66 and MarkH83 Thank this.

I usually keep it in the 60s, but I will admit, I have caught my truck going a little faster than normal a few times, but I'm pretty sure that was the lead in my shoes weighing my foot down.

Yes you do. That's the only thing that will cost you board position here. Need to get on the horn with safety and figure something out to get your logs in.
