Yep, Dean gave the same misguided logic to our class. The problem is that method of counting opportunity loss is too simple. It only counts gross load amounts. It has no concern for our perspective, deciphering the profitability of the load across time on that load. The loadboard is chock full of "junk freight" like a lot of the sub $500 loads that waste my whole day and many that will net me less than $150 per day. Not worth taking one and missing a more reasonable load.

ya i mean trl chrg, tags etc, which is fine i understand that stuff has to be paid for, but you should be able to absorb that stuff and still take home a little more than whats going on here. and as far as landstar not putting no eobr jobber in the truck. oh ya sure looks good on paper 14,580 gross in 1.5 months but at the end of the day to make 2400 and some change come on lets be realistic can you run a household and support a family on that?

Sitting here in Houston for the weekend and there is alot of Landstar drivers here sitting empty. 10 for every Mercer driver. Though Landstar probably has 10 times as many drivers overall. Just saying freight is lousy over all..
I did book a load out for Monday morning.

It seems that is the business model of ANY large carrier!!

Look, I understand people LOVE flatbedding and all but man I haul containers, all pier work, and AVERAGE that; all the while being home every night and usually home at 3pm on Fridays until Monday morning. So why run the road beating your brains out for $900 week settlements??

Better watch out saying that!! I tried telling people that last year and was chased with burning torches and pitchforks out of there!!
