If you got on with mercer You would most likely not want to mess with a load board anymore anyway remember it is not always what you make ,but how much you can save just look at the mercer trucks do they look like the owners are suffering and going broke? I run an older tractor and trailer but my total insurance thru mercer was $66 a month for full coverage including bobtail ,2 free windshields a year if you need them and a free bumper every year if you need one, plus with the fuel discounts one time at a Ta I got 52 cents a gallon off now granted that does not happen everyday but it is not unusual to get 30 cents off the pump priceI could also haul 50000 pounds of frieght legal and I would run in to and out of Canada. Mercer would have run me in to the ground if I would have let them because they had that much frieght. I have also been in California with 66 trucks in front of me me and loaded the same day when some of the others had been sitting for 2 weeks waiting on THAT BIG DOLLAR LOAD because they would not take 1.60 a mile frieght anywhere to them it was way too cheap. To each his own.as they say

i stopped running ca when they obsoleted my reefer. i do like to run the northwest but without a reefer i have never seen much of anything out there coming back. hows salt lake?
i will go east but i am like you going west, it better pay. needless to say i havent been there in a while. -
i will take a buck 60 out(as short as possible) if i made good money going in. its a balancing act to know wxactly when to sit and when to take something and get gone. been at this a long time. sometimes you win and sometimes you sit so long you set up a mail box.
what i am doing now has had the rug compleately pulled out from under me. my dedicateds are gone and being thrown back in the general lpad pool my avaerage last week was a buck 30 on all miles. thats right, i am running a truck on company drivers wages. i need out asaphorsecrazychic22 Thanks this. -
Salt Lake could be better, I am pretty picky on rates, but would haul some of the freight we have out of there to get back east. I have even bounced home from Seattle because rates weren't good enough, that was a little over 1600 miles. But like I said, I won't go out there for cheap.

Stay in the eastern half of the country and you can average over two dollars per mile without trying.

i have been running west so many years its hard to get the wide open spaces where you may not even see one scale in a day out of your blood. i was considering just taking a 37 state plate but afraid it could hurt me too.
-
take the 48 state plate it is only $400 more you can make that back in one load

horsecrazychic22 Thanks this.
