Pete , you would need enough room to make a "relaxed" u - turn since the trailer tires will dig out the material where the tires pivot if its too tight . I'd pull the truck and trailer in and make a u - turn to determine how much area to cover .
Stake out the area but do it in squared off sections to make the calculations simpler . Determine the total square feet and divide by 108 which is a yard square 3 inches deep . You might want to use 100 to give you a bit of extra material . This will give you the number of yards to order .
I'd recommend renting or borrowing a tractor with a box scraper to scrape all the vegetation and organic material away as well as cut down the high spots . It will reduce how much the gravel settles over time . I'd also rent a walk behind compactor to lock the stone together .
Not sure what grade to order but hopefully this will help with the layout and material needed .

Pete, why a uturn? Is your street to narrow to back in?
If backing in is not a practical option, considering making a T for a 3 point back up. Depending on your property layout, that can be preferred over a U going through the middle of your land. -
Maybe, He should just write a bunch of letters with rock.
deckeralliance and whoopNride Thank this. -
I could backin but wouldn't be safe. My driveway is right on a turn. But I like the T idea
