Ok we are on the same page anyway, i also think the same way as of now 3-1-13 ive made $18,150 gross on 8,218 all miles thats right at $2.20/mi and i have only worked 19 days this year i dont think thats bad numbers i just need more of them. I think i should do this every month but it dont happen trucks been in the shop 3 weeks this year and is in the shop now. i also took a week off to do taxes than not every day i find good freight its hard finding freight that pays what it should.

I wish my truck got 8mpg but it dont and cant seem to figure out why i cant get atleast 6.5 it cost me $1.19/mi to drive my truck down the road and thats if i drive 80,000miles a year this last year i only did 68,000 miles so that number was higher. Im inc and pay unemployment, SS, federal taxes, and medicare it comes out of my check every week. i pay myself 25% of gross to the truck

Today is payday ill show you what it looks like

    truck grossed $4,800 25% = $1,200
    unemployment is = $32.40
    Federal withholding = $75.00
    Social Security = $74.40
    Medicare = $17.40

    current withheld = $199.20

Current pay $1,000.80 thats what my check is today im looking at it now

that week i did two runs houston,tx to chicago,IL and back to houston i went up there for $2,250 on 1,090 miles
the return load was a tarp load of machinery it paid $2,550
i drove 2,380 all miles i spent $1,900 in fuel

That week i took in $4,800 gross spent $1,900 in fuel i paid myself $1,200 the company made $1,700

Im not afraid to show my cards ive reached out to lots of guys on here i been doing cheit wrong thats why im the only one driving for my company now. i have 3 trucks and trailers on the net now trying to sale them it dont matter witch one goes first im selling all of them and getting me a truck im upside down on two flatbed trailers one is a 2009 i owe $18,500 on it and the 2nd is a 2012 utility combo i paid $30,k for it last feb i pay $840 a month on it and i still owe $25,6xx on it so gess what im stuck with them, two trucks are paid for and the other two are not what can i do? thats why one went to mercer and im paying the note on the 2nd even tho i dont drive it. If i cant sale them what do i do call the bank and say come get them and f up my credit? i dont know what to do im not some stupid ## ck your use to talking to on here, i know for a fact i can teach you skateboardman a few things just like you could me thats why i gave you my number to get your opinion from a veteran trucker with years under his belt.

kmx7022, i got a cat c-15 2006 t600 i get 6.5 to 7mpg. i have an apu and i dont idle and i drive 62 on cruise the vast majority of the time.

i am not running the stock ecm tune by the way.

and no one has called you stupid, it seems apparent that the methods you are supplying are making you unhappy, i am only suggesting to perhaps adapt a new method or ways of doing business.

it seems as if you are pounding a square peg into a round hole.

honestly you have just reached the point , after paying off tags and initial start up expense, march is here, freight will pick up, to make some money.

but you are ready to leave, and refuse to look at any possibilities that any of your frustrations are the result of decisions you have made.

you are the one who took a 8900 dollars turnaround to oregon, you should have known your costs well enough to know what the end result would be, you have contracts and papers stating what deductions will be made and when , how they will be made.

i am trying to give you helpful advice, and yet you see it as me calling you stupid. please think about that for a bit.

the very reason i can give you that advice is very simple, it is the same as i tell my kids. the reason an old guy like me cangive advice on what not to do is this::::::: what you are only thinking about screwing up, i have actually already screwed up, twice in most cases.

all i am saying is i been exactly where you are kmx, i aint called you stupid at all. i am just seeing myself of years ago in your posts.

i truly hope you understand that, my posts mean no ill will toward you at all.

Skateboardman, I was not gonna post reply with your quote as it was so long of a post!

But, the more i read and re-read it i just couldn't bring myself to cutting it up at all!!

It's a great dose of reality for many so young that the reality of the times has not hit them yet!!

The current times are tough for all of us but it's your personal attitude that will make the difference.

Some of us are just old enough that we have seen the Bad times before . . . and these too shall pass but in the meantime alot of good drivers and their families will be hurt! Keep your attitude positive as life is not what happens to you but how you react to what happens to you.

You all are in my prayers.

Thanks again for the best post that i have read in many a year!

Skateboardman i appreciate the offer but i think your missing my point. i want to understand how it is even remotely possible to do 20 grand since the first of the year and be expected to maintain a truck and run a household on 2700 that they so gr aciously let me have deposited in my checkbook. obviously i must be doing something halfway correct to gross that since jan 1. and sure this truck isnt the greatest on fuel but its paid for and im not replacing it with anything else.i get what your saying about areas and all that and im not #####in about that. i took the load to oregon because it was out and back quick and easy. the point im trying to make here is mercers rates do not coincide with the deductions they want out of you here. by the time they do the trailer the insurance the escoro now the tag i mean holy #### id like to take a check home and the icing on the cake is i no sooner get done with the rquipment pmts and boom they wack me 600 in one shot for a tag i dont even need till the end of march i mean come on they couldnt let one settelment alone before they start that crap. no ya know why cause they could care less if you take a check home.thats no way to retain people.and 2150 to boot i dont know i had 48 state pa tags and they were 15-17 hundred all day long for the 20 years i had them.let me make this simple i dont run the truck hard i dont blow money and this isnt my first rodeo in a truck. i didnt just run down and pay 3 times what should have been paid for a crete friegjtliner or a used werner truck. ive put 21 years out here and still have fondess in my heart for the first cabover i owned so lets drop the i need my hand held.if i grossed 20 and got paid 10 i wouldnt be on here #####in.i came here to make my life easier not harder and with these numbers thats not possible your not doin it on 400 a week to the good. and if ya start talkin to mercer guys other than the 5 or 10 on here the answer i always seem to get is a shake of the head no when you ask em hows it going. i mean i could see where there coming from. ive never had even 1000 eftd into my checkbook sin e ive started here in october that was doing 14 grand from oct 31 to the end of the year and 20 from jan till now so im having a hard time gettin in the go mercer attitude
