Look for used equipment. Join some of the facebook groups for mercer and flatbed in general. Always someone there giving it up and selling their 3 month old equipment for half cost.
Your truck will be fine provided it can pass the toughest dot insurrection in the industry. Make sure you have a few threads showing past the lug nuts, and no abs problems, no cracked or separating brake shoes, all the lights working, etc etc.
Edit to add. Dallas is easy to get in and out of. But it's not a hot bed for good rates. Expect just over a buck fifty leaving. 2+ going in.
