You won't step on any toes. The lady in massena is about as good as they get. Very easy to work with. Give her a call.

How long is it since you were driving full time? It sounds like it may be around five years. If so you may have a problem with recent experience which most companies want to see. Have you contacted a recruiter and discussed this yet?

Otherwise you're location would be okay, there may be a bit of deadhead but there will be loads available out of that area.

How long since you have actually driven? If you not been behind the wheel since 2012 it may be a problem.

generally 2 out of the last 3 years need to be driving and also OTR driving, all seasons. This is largely an insurance company requirement. DOT requires that Mercer (or any other company) attempt to contact each employer and verify employment and also no failures/refusals for drug and alcohol testing. Companies out of business or refusing to reply (illegal but no one enforces this) can be verified by 1099 or W-2 statements. Log books mean nothing since anyone can fill one out and present it. All companies have dealt with these problems before so they will know how to work around it if it is possible.

You really need to consider talking to recruiting as one of your first steps if you are considering this "business planning". It could happen that you are eligible to be leased on right now, but by the time next spring comes around you could be out of the recent experience requirement window. None of us here can answer these for you, only recruiting can make those decisions. If you don't know what the company requirements are, or if you are even eligible to be signed on, then to me all the rest of the planning is pointless.

One thing that no company likes to see on an application, trucking or otherwise, is large gaps in your employment history. In trucking there is no excuse that "there weren't any jobs available" ... there are always seats to be filled.

    CNClee Thanks this.
