You have been pulling loads for Mercers Brokerage.

They are no diffrent than any other Brokerage. Charge customer 3.00 mile, broker load for 1.60 per mile. No diffrent than any other Broker.

The loads they broker are the scraps their Lease Operators dont want. No wonder you havent gotten any GOOD ones.

When I ran my own authority, I usually got Higher rates from Small Brokers.

Mercer, Landstar, CHR etc.. Have Thousands of approved carriers in their system, their money is good. If you won't haul it, one of them will. They dont have to give you a bigger slice of the pie.

Small Broker with 40 approved carriers in his file, is more likely to give you 2.70 out of that 3.00 per mile load.

Just my 2 cents, But it comes from experience. If im wrong, I stand corrected....

Landstar really turned me off with their processing center.

Mercer just called and offered me a 44,000lb RGN load that requires permits from PA to CA - 2571 miles - for the all inclusive rate of $4434. $1.72 a mile before permits... WOW! WTF are they thinking? I may need to rethink this whole Mercer thing... :yes2557: But I suppose that they are obligated to try to ship anything for any price that they get from the shipper no matter how crazy it is. The really crazy thing is that sooner or later some fool will haul it.
