You can take the truck to any shop. They don't recommend a single one. What they do is supply a print out of all the local shops so you don't have to spend 60 minutes scrolling the phone book. They are required by law to ensure trucks are in dot satisfactory operating condition. Hard for me to think it's a scam that they won't let you sign on with a truck that can't pass a thorough dot inspection.roshea and The Boss Lady Thank this.

Hi @spyder7723 well the right ones work, but several don't. We brought it into a Freightliner and they said it would cost about $3000 to fix. That seemed really high to us. If several are not working right it would have to be something in common as I can't imagine all the gauges went bad in a matter of months. I think we will bring it into another shop and get a second opinion.
Airborne Thanks this. -
That's high for gauges. You could buy all new mechanical gauges and install them for less than half that. What guages aren't working? And what engine do you have?

Except I'm 2500 miles from the houses.
Yeah that's all it is. I tried to get the guy to spray it at the truck wash but heck he missed half my truck I shouldn't expect him to hit a lil sensor. But that's usually all it takes. It goes out every time I hit salt. -
We have a Detroit 60 series. The fuel gauge (empty-full) and the battery voltage don't work. Before the turbo didn't work right, but now seems to be fine. The oil pressure gauge sometimes doesn't work right until we turn off the engine and then restart it and then it works fine.

Need to pull the sensor out. The part that goes inside the wheel end is what needs cleaned up, not the casing on the outside.

Make sure you let the gauges cycle before you start the motor.Airborne Thanks this.

@CJndaTruck my hubby never lets me start the truck until all the gauges have moved back and forth. But I appreciate the suggestion!

I can usually get enough water on there with a good truck wash. Otherwise I'll pull it. But I'd rather just have Mike do it. You know I'm lazy.
spyder7723 Thanks this.
