Now that I think about it the intake and exhaust should be and enclosed system so you shouldn't smell any fumes from under the truck

Ac units generate a lot of heat. The air exhaust pipe on those portables is made so that the heat goes outside, not inside.

True but if he doesn't have an intake from outside as well he will pull out side air in to the Truck if its a 100 degrees out he will lose efficiency

    No. It pulls inside air.

should work fine as the inside air will be cooler while the unit is pushing the hotter air under the truck.

So I just got a load to L'ville at 4:30pm on a Sunday? LOL. I have gotten loads on saturdays before but never on a Sunday. Anyway, I'll be hitting the yard about lunchtime Tuesday. Anyone going to be there yet?

I am not trying to get in a xxxxxx contest but simple physics says that if you force air from inside the truck out of the truck air will come in from someplace else unless you have an air tight truck then you will create a vacuum till the exhaust fan can no longer move air out depending on the Volume of air Pete's ac unit intake and exhaust moved it might or might not be a problem

roshea and Lone Ranger 13 Thank this.

Petes truck might be old enough and have enough holes in it that pulling inside air isn't a problem. But the air has to come from someplace and in a newer truck it really would be best to come from outside. But again I don't think this will be a big issue with petes truck. Heck he already has holes built right in. Lol

So what do you think the option is?

Exhaust the hot air into the truck?
Kind of defeats the whole point of the air conditioner.

Have the intake draw outside air?
That would make the air conditioner far less efficient than using air that is already cooler from inside the cab.

Yes a bit of air will come in from outside when drawing the intake from the cab but air is coming in anyways, no cab is completely air tight so the difference is almost undetectable.
