The device will only save 8 days but the omnitracs website saves 6 months worth of logs. At least it should for every company that uses it. I download my logs every quarter for tax purposes. (Not with mercer)

In the load info for today, I just put empty. Is that ok or should I put in the load we're dispatched on even though we don't load until tomorrow? Also, how would I change my entry to show we started on duty not driving 3 minutes earlier than it shows? Also some of the days before we started with Mercer aren't right--maybe on those days it would be easier to call Mercer Logs to see if they can help me fix those days. Thanks!!

You can put tomorrow's load info in. You are dispatched on it so it's fine. It will be easiest to call logs in the AM and have them fix any major issues. But I wouldn't worry about 3 minutes.

Someone had told us that one of our inspections had to be 15 minutes long, but our pre-trip inspection was only 12 minutes as we forgot how to log in LOL and had to mess around with it for awhile.
I'll give our logs person a call tomorrow and ask about the other days. Thanks CJ!

So 6 states make you do a 15 min Pretrip. CA AZ PA MO TN and IN. All states require a 15 min post trip however every inspector I've talked to says log what you do and if you can do a post in 10 mins then.... just be prepared to prove it. Lol

I haven't had a pre trip take more than 3 minutes since coming to Mercer. Mercer wants to see a 15 minute post trip. Pretty fast to pre trip a truck and trailer that hasn't moved since you did the post trip the night before. I check lights and tires and glance under it for leaks at the drive train and wheel seals. At night i do a thorough post trip.

Hard to do without a BOL number. I guess you could fudge that and just change it once loaded though.

TBH I wouldn't worry about it. Putting it in tomorrow is fine. Heck I forget to update the info half the time. Nobody is going to get on you about it.

Heck i don't even know how to update it. I put in the trip # of the load I'm dispatched on when i log in, and if i reload that day i put the new one in the comments section.

    CJndaTruck and Chickadee Thank this.

I've had 3 loads in 2 weeks that didn't have BOL numbers. Just type in NA and go on.

And I'm right there with ya. Load I delivered today didn't get put in. Oops.

    Chickadee and CJndaTruck Thank this.
