I do realize that is truck pay, that is what I am getting at. Too me, that ain't worth it, when I can and have booked legal flatbed loads, for that kind of money, to the truck. I admit, I don't see those loads everyday, but, I do see them.

all oversize isnt 12 tall and 12 wide to be tarped. running daylight only aint a real big deal at all. now consider i spent a good many years pulling 16 wide and 80 foot houses. truthfully it affected us very little we got our miles in daylight to dark.

a lot depends on the oversize load, type etc.

i have also, but thats not the norm. if you figure in the norm, its a whole different ball game.

i have pulled loads for 250.00 a mile , now granted they went 3 miles from the port for 750.00 a pop but that aint the norm.

cpape, my mpg went up 1 mpg when i got the apu and cut out all idling. it has also improved my quality of life. i dont go home every weekend , but winter and summer , hot or cool i easily the apu costs and plus a thousand a month. my is the type that cuts on and off with a thrmostat type setting , it doesnt run constantly and when running uses maybe 1/4 gallon per hour.

i have had no trouble to speak out of mine, a complete service i do myself every 500 hours, they reccommend 1000 costs 2 and 1/2 qts and 15.00 in filters, has a cut off valve on the oil drain, takes 30 minutes for a complete service. it 14 months had 2 minor problems and it was corrected.

Are you sure??? I've seen the mercer rates on the Oshkosh stuff and it's not that great, and neither is LS's rates. I only go there so I can grab a truck going to Lexington to get me to another run i do.

I'm not saying it's terrible, or Mercer is bad, I'm more saying that the military stuff is getting too cheap. But everyone wants to run a stepdeck and do drive on stuff because it's so easy....thus you get cheap rates.

I am sure. I hauled a lot of oshkosh. The rate to the truck on most is between that and $2./mi. So im sure mercer didnt grab them for that and forgo their percentage out of the kindness of their heart. They arent great rates but its easy work and it loads and unloads fast.

Btw you should read my whole post before you quote it and try to disagree and just end up avreeing with me.

I have to agree with Skateboardman. I grab any load going to Wi. and deadhead to Oshkosh because I can almost always grab a load out, usually to Bluegrass depo/Lexington for around $1.89 mile to the truck. Easy money. This time, I got a load to NC. for $2.25 mile out of Oshkosh Tues. granted I have to sit on it till next Wed, that's why it paying so good on 1000 miles. But hey I live half way down and it's holiday weekend. So few extra days at the house.

Also I love oversize but do turn down 2 out of 3 oversize loads because of the cheap pay. I expect .30-.50 cents per mile for them and alot more if it's gotta be tarped.
