Skateboardman asked the question first, and I'll ask it again. What were you pulling? If thats all the better you could get for rates then it had to be a van behind you. I don't think I have ever seen a load out of Chicago for a flat for less than $2.00 a mile. I have never pulled one out of there for less than $2.50 per mile. But I don't look at van rates either, because they suck and I have no interest in them.

Its hard to coment on.other peoples situations too. You know there is a whole lot of folks who dont know how to live on the road. We had drivers who would spend hundreds or even a thousand a week in advances eating and trashing around

What's the advantages of Step vs Flat . I'm not educated in the subject but I would assume for hauling equipment etc ..

The only advantage the majority of the time is a lower working height. I think the market is over saturated with steps, there by driving the freight rates down for them. There are some areas where it is good to have a step, and there are more areas you will be better off with a flat. I have been contemplating selling my step and getting a flat. But yes, if equipment is want you want to haul then get a step. I just can't hardly justify that extra cost for one at this time.
