I was being nice. We know our agents and that some are fast and some slow. But you are right in general.

 

Soooo it seems I don't drink enough Kool aid. I gotta ask, how's the " let's stop the 50% load advance" fight going? I mean I never use the advance so I don't care. But I know many in the MMC do use the advance like yourself. How is the fact they might stop it hurting you?

 

I habe yet to hear anything about it from anyone except for that quick conversation you and i had about it.

 

No, I wasn't dispatched. I had originally "confirmed" and the agent called to talk me out of it (scared me a little) and he put refuse on the load for us. I spoke to my hubby and he told me to call him back and tell them he wanted the load IF he could pay more. The agent said he couldn't. No biggie. We got another load. But thanks for the info about the Tappan Z bridge. I'll remember it for next time.

 

How do you get fuel if you don't get money advanced? Or do you just get enough to cover your fuel for the run?

 

I hope they don't stop the 50% advance. We really love that option. I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world as we have enough money on our card for diesel, but we would miss it. Instant gratification is nice.

 

The advance is also nice if you have an unexpected repair on the road (like our AC where I registered an EFT check to pay for the repairs) (we could use a credit card, but it is nicer to use our own money). Let's hope they are unfounded rumors.

 

To be clear folks, there is no way they are stopping fuel advances. They would lose way to many trucks and they know that. Fact is, at least half the trucks here couldn't make a delivery without a fuel advance. The average person just can't manage their money.

Now what they could do is allow you to get fuel and then debit it off the settlement like many carriers do. I'm not saying they will do this, but worse case this is what we are looking at.
