I kind of got the same mentality as you, I know what I've got and what I need. I like my truck, I've become very comfortable with her and she makes me money every week. I would hate to start this process over again...Airborne, Highway Sailor, RStewart and 1 other person Thank this.

Hmm no good loads coming out of the house. With Fuel almost .25 more makes me not wanna take this heavy load out
Time to look for a new load
CJndaTruck Thanks this. -
I'll stick with my steel rods that cost 30 bucks a piece and last 20 years.

Ask zoocrew about how good that self adjusting clutch is. He just had to replace his. And went with a manual adjusting due to cost and longevity.
-
Probably only a couple hundred each. But all those additional costs add up over the life of a truck. It would be different if you was one of these fleets that but new and trade in before things start needing replaced, but for those of us that keep a truck for 10+years and 2 million miles... The KISS system is best.

Bingo. We have a winner.
Drop the pan. Clean the underside of the block with a clean rag. Pressure check the system and sit under and look for the drip drip. Take a mechanics stethoscope under with ya. You will hear it before you see it. -
Looks like you guys in Florida are going to get hit with a big storm "Irma" @spyder7723 will you be home or on the road?
-
I've been home. Not gonna leave my wife to deal with it by herself. now that they are saying it is less likely to hit the west coast I'm not really stressing it. But the previous 3 days was real ### bust to get ready for sustained 185 mph winds.
Ya ever put together one of those kids playhouse jungle gym things? Pain in the butt. But taking them apart is a full day job. Heck it took a day just to get the garage cleaned up enough to fit all the outside stuff in. Had to go out to the truck to chain it down to the concrete pad and push all the box type trailers up to each other. Charlie taught me a lesson on how easy trucks and tall trailers can get flipped over. At least if they are all next to reach other real tight they might get some damage but won't have to get them back upright.CJndaTruck, Highway Sailor, Zoocrew77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Mine worked perfect. Clutch lasted 725k miles & was worn perfectly. No adjustment, one less thing i have to worry about.
I'll check with freightliner but judging by the other stuff I've replace on this truck I'll be surprised if I can't get both parts for a couple hundred bucks total. The added costs might make a little difference but all in all if a person keeps up with the maintenance the added costs are not much more. Definitely not enough to allow one person to retire wealthy & the other is broke cause of these added costs. If i wanted to use the KISS system i would buy a me truck every 3 years & just always have a payment. That's much simpler than spending my free time wrenching on my older truck.CJndaTruck, p608, tallinthesaddle4life and 1 other person Thank this.
