Don't bother then, stay away. If you have to have $2.25 a mile for every mile month after month with you living in Texas, then you ain't ever going to see home. You will be better off to stay on your own authority. And we will be better off to not hear you bashing Mercer because you have unrealistic expectations. Not sure why you think you would need that much running under Mercer's authority anyway.

Hotshot I have to agree with Oscar though he's little direct and hard.
It is hard to average more than $2 a mile here at Mercer. I do, but I'm normally only run 2000 miles per week. And I live in a great area (Southern Ind.)
I'm not saying there isn't good money here. But it has to do with the area, and what your pulling and hauling. The guys here pulling double drops are probably getting close to $3 mile average but not lot of miles. Guys pulling flats here that can pull 45K+ and willing to tarp is getting all the miles they want and probably averaging $1.75
And these numbers are with fuel surcharge.
I'd like to know where you can get that plus fuel surcharge on a regular basis.

ya I'm still getting it but it's getting hard to find it that's why I'm looking at leasing on to someone I do alot for Landstar now and most loads I do with them on step pays good if I didn't have to have hazmat I'd be there so most people I talk to say they have about the same paying freight so if you guys are leased on running around doing tarp loads under $2.00 a mile your crazy

I don't much care to tarp, so I do very little of it. I will let my tarps keep collecting dust in their boxes for anything less than $2.30 per mile. And thats for the four footers, the six footers won't come out for less than $2.40, the eight footers are at home.... where they belong.

if you lease on you dont have anywhere near the insurance cost and you get a fuel discount wilhich is substantal. all cuts down on that cost.

also remember that those rates you see shc posting are gross. you only get like 65% of that or whatever they have cut their leases down to now a days.

I don't think your coming off as a prick I'm a "tell it like it is guy" I just don't want to wast my time if it's not what I think it's going to be I'll say this I run two weeks out at a time and it's super hard to find freight out of here I don't mind being out as long as I'm not parked at the truck stop waiting on my next load. I'm just sick of a $7,000 week than next week only make $3,150 but last week only drove 1,280 miles to get me back home did a TN to Houston,tx paid $2,650 on 940 miles that was from ATS of all people
