I didn't really want to leave either, I liked it at Mercer. (most of the time) I had three agents within 240 miles of my house, the Sioux Falls agents handles almost exclusively van freight, and what little open deck freight they put on the board was as cheap as the van loads they had, in the two years I was there I never even talked to them, let alone haul a load for them. There is a agent in Des Moines, helluva nice guy, but he wants to put all his eggs in Vermeer's basket, and very rarely got anything going east, most of that freight went to KS, NE, and the Dakotas. Then there is good ol' Orie up in St. Paul, who wants to sit around and wait for them cheap ### counter tops out of Cambria, and anything else freight wise is to much work for her for what she gets out of it. (her own words) So I had no choice, sit around and go broke waiting to leave the house, never go home(not an option) or bounce to Chicago every time to get going. I wouldn't mind the bounce if the rates out of Chicago would cover it, but they don't.

it came out to just over 3800 after stop pay and fsc. loaded late Thursday, so yes I was on it for almost a full five days, and did nothing Sunday, just pissed around on the truck and spent the day in a hotel. took less than a grand for fuel, so that's 2800+ for 5 very easy days. I'm more than happy with that. for a lot of years before I came to mercer I had to #### near kill myself to bring home 2800, and most weeks I ran my ### off for a Hell of a lot less. if making more money while working a lot less equals drinking the koolaid then I just gotta ask one thing, " can I have some more please"

as for the beer, next time I'll be happy to, I spent the day doing some odds and ends on this old truck. got an inspection coming due so gave it a good once over.

ya you did say that but I also was thinking you didn't want anyone taking any of your good loads!!!
The driver I had worked for me almost 3 years he ran his own ship I only got him outbound freight he found everything else he took care of finding and booking his loads I'm telling you he did some runs I just couldn't believe. He did a 210 mile run one weekend he ended up getting $2,800 for because he had to sit on that load. His last year with me made $67,k take home. He now works for Martin gas pulling tankers at night and brings home $1,300 a week and home everyday he would have had to gross $6,k a week to make that at mercer the best 7day week he ever had there was $4,600 the money just ant there for owners to have drivers in trucks.

Blind driver what kind of money you make driving for that guy?

I have no misery best thing I did was get into trucking the next best thing I did was deciding to sale everything and go back to a single truck.
you keep sleeping in your truck for weeks at a time and ill enjoy sleeping at home 75% of the time!

I can answer that,,, not what we're making. that I will agree with ya on. if ya own and drive your own truck here it makes a huge difference, two people eating the same hamburger never works out it seems

I should take home $1200 from the last week, but I had one extra lazy day. If I keep finding all these good paying loads, my own truck is in the future.

And he 1099's you right? By the time you pay your taxes sure seems like a lot of work for what you will actually get. Not meant as a slam, just an observation.

Yup. I need to take home about 30% more to pay Obama's Middle Class Tax to feed the lazy sheep.

I think your more looking at gross to the truck and not miles there is a reason that owner didn't want guys just running crazy. I can pull loads out of Houston going to Washington any day of the week 2,500 miles most loads pay $5,800-$6,300 and I've never even considered it same with California most loads going in pays $2.50+/mi again I don't even think about it ya you can have a good week but what you going to do next week
