And again bayou hotshot speaks for so many as he's making millions sitting at home with his truck in the shop.

I once had my own authority. Then found the light and come over here at Mercer.

I'd like some more of that koolaid myself.

Do you know where the term "don't drink the kool aid" comes from?

this is pretty much the same with me, only after suspending my mc number I leased to another carrier before mercer. I can honestly say I wish I had leased to mercer first thing when I started out in 98. tho I was a lot younger and had to learn quite a lot(usually the hard way), might of gotten myself blackballed from them for life.

So many want to compare leasing on with own authority. I had my own authority before Mercer and had to pay cargo insurance(approx 7000 year) and had to work to collect my money and pay fuel taxes and audit
And here st Mercer I don't pay those and get enough discount on fuel to make up for the 25 percent they keep

    Blind Driver Thanks this.

I pay $5,800 a year for insurance 1million 100,k cargo comp/collision two trailers my truck $68,k insured. I get the same fuel discounts you get cost + $.06, IFTA is so easy I put a tracker on my truck that records the miles in each state that's $25 a month every time I fuel I have a spread sheet I fill out date, city, state, station, price, gallons, and average MPG at the end of the quarter I print out my mileage for the states add the gallons in each state and I'm done in 20min I owed $52 this last quarter but had a $83 credit so it cost me nothing and have never paid for stickers like some people think you do!

ive been thru two audits and my last one the lady spent more time asking me questions even ask me if I was a DOT inspector at one time, she told me ill never be audited again unless my CSA drops or involved in a fatality accident. Now that I don't have drivers my scores are going back up. I have not got any of the warnings / tickets that's on my CSA.

As for as collecting money yes that can be a problem but in all the years I've only been screwed on one run for $3,600 out of $740,000 we billed that year and was just a bad deal to start with was a friend of mine called and had done 20 loads for this guy and never had a problem with money. I never did any paper work we talked about price and I went and got it so half my falt half his. I have trucking software I use and counts down the day I do a invoice 10 days after soon as I log in it shows me what's late or what was sent out 10 days before 75% of the time I call to verify they have received my invoice and verify the amount on invoice.....I've had brokers in the past play that we didn't get a invoice game and I fax it over 40 days in only to get put on that 30day list again there just trying to hold on that money as long as they can.

Are you finding your own loads or is your coordinator finding them?

from his post you should know the answer, hint when did you show more improvement. the best deal is when you and the coordinator both are getting with the program, and even better like me when the wife is hitting the load board also.

one thing a young fellow like bayou often forgets is that some of us were doing this before he could wipe his own behind.
