Nobody cares to tarp but we carry the tarps to get out of lousy areas like Texas. Don't misunderstand, we love going to Texas but Texas can be tough to get decent paying load out of with Mercer. Colorado even more so.
East coast is great paying area.
If your getting good loads from Landstar from Texas you should probably consider getting your hazmat and going with them.horsecrazychic22 Thanks this. -
guess i should be glad i live in tx. i dont mond sitting at the house a week looking for a decent rate. i would be pulling my hair out if i was sitting in a truck stop

I buy all my fuel off the savings plus card from Landstar so I give cost pluse $.06 now I think y'all are close to that insurance runs me $700 a month so I don't look at it as a big cost my fixed cost now is $1.47 a mile and don't really see that going down much. I'm going to need a new truck in the next few years and there's no way I can afford a truck note anymore so I need to make a change now or when that day comes or I'll be looking for a job
My wife said this weekend that I should buy a new lighter trailer but I owe $21,k on this one now so that's out I have like two and a half more years before I can buy a new one again I pay $820 a month on this one now -
I carry 4' 6' 8' and 10ft drops and don't mind using them as long as it pays these tarps cost me $2,200 from try city canvas and 2nd time I used the big set I got a hole in one. I like to run hard but I'm starting to sit around more than I like too I tell my dispatcher now she should have a load waiting on me by the time I drop but all she keeps telling me is the weight is what the problem is lately I'm finding more loads than she is

I'm 265" WB with dual 150gal tanks I carry 8 20' 5/16 chains 4 20' 3/8 and 4 5' 1/2 chains 8 fold overs and 8 rachets I have 600lbs just in tarps and my load leveler/ramps I bet are about 400lbs I also carry 12 4x4s and 10 V-boards I even have 10x40ft 4" straps and even some 60ft 2".
Being a O/O you have to carry anything you think your going to use if I took off ramps and tarps I could scale 47,500 for a fact I use to do it -
oooooohhhhhhhh. i thought you said your were heavy. Yes i do know what you mean....be ready to haul any and every thing. as long as you can scale around 45000 over here i doubt you will ever see a problem. i will say though, at times....it can seem like you just have too much stuff. when i came over to mercer......i actually left quite a bit of things off the truck this time......i guess ya just never know though. it depends how picky ya want to be.
horsecrazychic22 Thanks this. -
Last company I was leased on to hauled the same stuff that's when I pulled a flatbed pipe was all I hauled and lumber back so I didn't use chains or tarps for two years I didn't even have boxes on that trailer had 12 straps and two spares and that's all I ever needed
