I don't pull vans but I will tell you what I know. You can lease a box from Mercer.
No EOBR'S to deal with as of yet. They have said they will be the last hold out to the end.
I get paid normally 4-5 business hours after deliver. Great fuel discounts the same if not a bit better than LS. Ive read their fuel book. As of right now Mercer is very pleasant to work with. No drama if you do what is expected of you.
I don't watch van rates.

I never knew about any bonus?? I never directly recruit but if someone asks about a good TN based company or pm me I have no problem at all talking about how good the company is. The truth doesn't require a kickback lol. I always make sure anyone understands though, we're not for everyone and not everyone is up to the task all the extra responsibility.

the $1200 I need is for total truck expenses not gross income. i have been an o/o before. this is my 2nd truck and i am needing to find a better company that pays better percentage and 100% fuel surcharge...NO mileage pay.

I've been on the Mercer van division for 5 months now. I average $3500.00+/week to the truck.
I did $16,132.32 my first month but started taking a lot of time off once camping season started.
i just did a search for van freight within 500 miles of Knoxville and came back with an average rate of $1.75 per loaded mile to the truck. Keep in mind that it is Sunday and these are the left over loads that no one wanted to book on Friday.
Our two biggest customers on the van division are Northern Tool (hardware) and NACCO (forklifts).
These loads never make it to the board as they are snatched up by the coordinators immediately.
There are 9 forklift plants that we haul out of and the closest to you are Richmond, KY and Greenville, NC.
There are around 300 Mercer van trucks that very quietly go up and down the road practically unnoticed and I've met guys who have been on the Mercer van division for as long as 18 years. I loaded beside a guy the other day that did $185,000.00 to the truck last year on the van division. Most of the flatbed guys don't really watch our rates and only remember the really bad ones.
I have never had to sit over night to reload unless I chose to here so don't worry about making $1200/week, you will do much better than that. The trailer lease is $0.00 down and $500.00 per month for 5 years. The buyout is already included in that $500.00 per month as an escrow. We never go to large distribution centers and never touch the freight other than securing forklifts with straps inside the trailer.Last edited: Jul 28, 2013
