Contracting is a dog . Married to the truck . Get a line job with insurance and steady pay . A phone call is the cost of breakdowns and you get paid to wait on wrenches. No sleepless nights or putting off maintenance till your next good week . Listen to your wife . I was in the game since 2004. My first rig was a 2001 Corn Binder. Last one was a 2012 lone mountain Cascadia . The DEF issues ate up fifteen grand in three weeks and I left it in Barstow after a 1300 dollar tow out of the desert . Sent my driver back to Kentucky in a rental car . Thanksgiving of last year. The feast and famine game gets old . Maintenance , rate slides . Plus I’m sure your pretty wife misses you home . Mine sure did . And I’m not old nor bitter . Been at it since I was 21 .

Is that your standard reply ? I ran trucks for 13 years . Raised a family on them . Turning my own wrenches as I was a heavy equipment mechanic in the Army . I also had rolled lobes in the top end of the motor leaking exhaust into the filter . Had it in six shops with all the brand dealers . They never figured it out . Could never get it into Cummins and every shop missed the diagnosis. Didn’t feel a need to go into more than a generic detail with you , Hand. Personally I just made the choice not to do it anymore . By the By I was answering to the other driver and some of the emotion I felt I read in his posts .. dreams can be heartbreaking . I was just putting my two cents in for that driver . I’m sure he’ll figure it out . Roll on , Ace

If it's just a broke ring, you could get buy on just a cylinder kit. $30k sounds like a Cat Platinum cost. Obviously, if you could afford the head and rod/mains but if not that's an option.
