But you can commit to several loads at once, before you are accepted on one.

That's the caution , be prepared to take any load you commit to,

This is what I was referring to. I personally only commit to one and see what happens with it, then move to plan B if that's no good.

Thanks. I don't plan on being a stranger here. I still like this thread.

I prefer to just call the agent if I find a load I like. Very rarely will I commit to a load on the board cause I don't like the waiting game. I call the agent and make sure it's a good load still and then they put it on me.

Doesnt work that way on open deck as easily, its helps if it had run the board already

Keep in mind loads have to run the board first for empty trucks to get first shot

Yep. I call the agent and they tell me if the load is still available to me. That means the customer hasn't covered it and no Mercer truck has picked the load. I don't ask if anyone is ahead of me on the load. I call and ask about it and if they say it's still good then I book it. I never pay attention to board position unless I'm in a bad area. Then if a good load pops up and I'm #3 on it there's a real good chance I won't get it because one of the other drivers will take it.

Are you sure, because I think we had this discussion a few months ago... And I personally have tried and it something to the effect of you are already committed to a load...

We are supposed to be able to commit to more than one load at a time and you have to take the first load that you get. Of course this may have changed with the new board position rules.

    thaistick Thanks this.
