It makes it easier so that you can have a step on your drivers side to get up on your flatbed versus walking around to the passenger side. Although I've seen some that have steps built into the APU.

There's a former Schneider driver over here now doing flats that posts videos of himself on YouTube. You'll see quickly what happens when you don't use padding ( felt ) under your tarps on his videos. Sadly the last time I seen one of his Videos he still hasn't learned.
Another good thing to get is the chain pole they sell it Mercer. I think its $45 and has multiple uses. Works for putting edge protectors up, pulling chains, lots of uses.

I did the Omitracs update this morning. It's a little different. I wonder is that Mercer changing it or is it Omnitrack doing it for all companies? I noticed just now that when I stopped for my 30 minute break that it made me certify all change of duty status that occurred so far today...
