It makes it easier so that you can have a step on your drivers side to get up on your flatbed versus walking around to the passenger side. Although I've seen some that have steps built into the APU.

You'll find that Kenworth is really proud of everything on that truck.

I would highly recommend spending about $100 on felt when you are at Mercertown to protect your tarps fron ripping. Its $2 a foot and they will cut it however you want. I have four 12ft pieces.

There's a former Schneider driver over here now doing flats that posts videos of himself on YouTube. You'll see quickly what happens when you don't use padding ( felt ) under your tarps on his videos. Sadly the last time I seen one of his Videos he still hasn't learned.

Another good thing to get is the chain pole they sell it Mercer. I think its $45 and has multiple uses. Works for putting edge protectors up, pulling chains, lots of uses.

You'll do fine though, it's not rocket science.

See if Fleet Pride at exit 4 by Mercer has one. I'm sure they do, even if they gotta order it normally next day it comes in.

I did the Omitracs update this morning. It's a little different. I wonder is that Mercer changing it or is it Omnitrack doing it for all companies? I noticed just now that when I stopped for my 30 minute break that it made me certify all change of duty status that occurred so far today...

Yeah I intend to spend some extra. Minimalism doesn't seem like a good idea when it comes to load securement.
