I don't know if its as much of paying your dues but like you said building relationships. Agents absolutely have access to more freight than we ever see but its about them knowing they don't have the capacity to move it and probably don't want to bother the broker or let them down by taking it.

Unfortunately for the agents that get way too much freight from brokers there is not a good way to know when a load is no longer available. No one notifies the 100 companies the load was offered to that a load has been taken. Sometimes just like with outside load boards, you can see two mercer agents offering the identical load at different rates. I know of two agents in particular this happens with frequently since they are in the same state and only separated by a little over 100 miles.

When I first started here selecting a load on the board and waiting 30 minutes or so only to have them call to say it was no good or see that it disappeared from the board would frustrate me to no end!!!! Now I just call the agent and ask them if its good or not. And if they can't tell me right away, I'll give them about 15-20 minutes and if they have called me back, I'm calling them.... I'm don't wait around. If by 20 minutes a broker can't tell the agent if its good or not, then most likely I don't want to deal with them; and I'll tell the agent to pull me off..... obviously if its something like they are trying to confirm the appointment times or counts then that's understandable.

    RStewart Thanks this.

What difference would it make in regards to getting paid considering a lot of loads that we haul here come from load boards that are brokered.

Unless your talking about if he found a load from a broker that Mercer has never used before or something of that nature?

I'll tell you right now I sure do. It's not big, but it has a couple agents on it.

I wouldn't dare post the Agents name on here though @mickeymouseclub would probably go into cardiac arrest trying to defend the agent.

How did the new truck stack up to the old when under your first load with it?
