Mine says "Mercer Transportation Co" it's rather sad that if your load is Secure properly, Truck in good mechanical order, and Logs good that they find the most ridiculous thing possible to give someone a violation on.

It's a BS way for a state to make money. Back in the 70's, before Georgia had actual scales, they would set up "truck inspection stations" in the rest area on 85 at Carnesville. It didn't matter how many obvious things were wrong with you or your truck, the only thing they did was use a tape measure to check the length of the truck and trailer. Both together could only be 55 feet long.
45 foot trailers were just coming into heavy use, and almost any cabover with a wheelbase past 144" would be in violation. I went through about 11 am and got dinged for $50.00, and a free van ride to the Carnesville jail/judges office, to plead guilty and pay the fine. At least 90% of the trucks coming through were too long.
At the scale they kept a ledger book of the victims for each day. By the time they wrote my name in they were several pages, front and back, of names for the day. It appeared there were at least a couple of hundred, and it early in the day. They had two 12 passenger vans I saw, maybe more, that were shuffling full loads to the jail and back as fast as they could, with big lines waiting at the rest area each trip.
They didn't care about anything else that was wrong, just the quick $50.00. Ray Charles could have found enough stuff to shut me down in 30 seconds, and wound up with way more that $50.00, but that would have taken time and parking spaces. That wanted quick money.
This BS "Inc." sounds like a new twist on the same game. -

What happened to the rates
-
Whatever do you mean. Push the button on the side of the seats and they will go up
-
Ya, the freight has slowed down that's for sure. Every single "bid" load I tried to get this week ended up being "underbid" LOL.
-
Rates slowed down? I Had 1 load under $2.50. That was 1.80 out of houston.
