Using 3 4 and 5 3x3 9. 4x4 16 5x5 25 9 plus 16 equal 25 cool dude thanks. So basicly 3plus 4 equal 5. Right

 

Yeah basically, but it's easier to just measure to the corner than do the math.

 

True to an extent.... but I dont even have a 1/4 inch clearance in a turn to the bucket on my headache rack. The fact it has a bucket gives me about 6-9 inches back to the rack itself and another 6 inches back to the cab. I have scraped the bucket when a customer refused to listen to me and I finally gave up arguing with them on the 1/4 inch the load needed to slide back, I have not ever hit anything else.

I would still recommend that advice to be safe though.... measure the corner and add 6 inches of possible.

 

I agree, and I hoped people would realize it would not apply much to your type of rack, but to an enclosed rack, which I have plus I have another box bolted on top of that. Also with or without a rack you could hit the back of a cab of any truck if there is not enough clearance. I've seen plenty of trucks that have been smashed up that way unfortunately.

 

Last year right out of orientation I bobtailed to md to pick up empty van. I had just had headache rack put on yrutr so when I hook to trailer I noticed it was very close so I moved truck around in couple different angles to see if it was going to hit. It was fine on lot but later that night when parking I was backing into spot and the trailer and truck leaned and bottom of trailer caught the headache rack near ubolts.

So had to have it taken off until end of UPS season.

 

Yeah, no question with an enclosed rack and extra rack on top you need more clearance than just the measurement. That's why I'd say add at least 6 inches to the measurement. Like I said, I haven't hit mine (yet), but every time I have a tall load I roll the window down and listen carefully for a crunch of I think its gonna be close

 

Not the best but looks like 2-3 airlines and some kind of power connection on other side

 

If it has a power connection I think it may be part of the abs system. See if you have the same on your drives. 2 years ago I had on go bad in the winter time. It had to be replaced. When it went bad it would blow air when the brakes were applied.

 

Think that's the vorad system... You know if you get to close to another vehicle it starts applying the brakes...

 

Truck doesn't have that system.
