I wonder how many of those back ordered trucks will be cancelled? The megas tried to increase capacity, which they did. That has helped drive down rates and has taken up a lot of excess freight.

I believe there is a backlog of trucks ordered that won't be needed by the time they are built. The companies that ordered first, and has already received their trucks, were the winners in the lack of capacity game, the rest will either have to cancel orders or end up with too many trucks, with the latter driving rates down further.

One thing about the freight game, if there is more freight that trucks, give it a year and it will be the opposite. Between cyclical economic slowdowns, and companies jumping on the buy more trucks bandwagon, this always happens.

Companies supposedly couldn't find drivers for the trucks they had, yet they buy more trucks. Further proof that the "driver shortage" is fake news.
