Do they flash at full brightness or are they dim? If dim you have a bad ground, if full brightness you have a short somewhere in the wiring. Most likely at the trailer or truck plug. Ask another driver to plug his truck into the trailer and check lights to eliminate your truck wiring from the equation. Once you know if its truck or trailer its time to start following wires. Start at the plug and work your way back.Last edited: Jan 28, 2019
TruckerPete1990, mtoo, RStewart and 1 other person Thank this. -
I usually did really well going into FL when I was at Mercer. I wouldn't go withs of Orlando unless the load paid really, really good.

Short somewhere...start with pigtail. Easiest one to check. Buy one at TS and plug it in. If it solves the problem, youre good to go. If not, return for refund, and you know problem is in trailer.

Yep. I loaded earlier today. Waiting for everyone to go to bed in Baltimore so I can sneak on through.

I feel your pain... My running light fuse has been blowing the past week when it rains which cause all my trailer lights to not work with the exception of the brakes and signals when applied...
I've either got a frayed wire or water getting in somewhere causing a short. Pain in my rear end!!
I've been up under the truck in every nook and cranny and cant find it... it's like a needle in a haystack...
Why cant it be something with a simple diagnosis like a flat tire?

Electrical gremlins are the worst and the most frustrating.
I had an issue where if my lights were off anytime I used the turn signal the clearance lights on the visor would flash...I was ready to start ripping out wiring. But it turned out to be a corroded bulb connection in the tail light.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
Stop telling stories, everyone knows you can't make any money running to Florida.
RStewart Thanks this. -
That absolutely won't narrow it down to the trailer. It just means the pigtail wasnt the problem. Can still be before or after the pigtail.Last edited: Jan 29, 2019
