February has always been the worse month for open deck freight. Ive been doing this since the summer of 1995 and there is a pattern every single winter. It slows down right aftet Christmas and continues to slow through February then will level of and start to pick up. By the middle of March it will be decent again.

It doesn't matter what the name on your door says. Mercer, landstar, Bennett, admiral merchant or anyone. Winter is slow period

Whats the best areas to run with a Van now? Is Texas pretty dead i took a load to Houston because my new Coordinator said he can load me out of there. I Looked at GA and those are cheap as a pack of gum

I live in dfw and it’s usually cheap getting out. I’m unloading in temple tonight and I haven’t found anything that I can at least make a couple of bucks to get to a good area. Oh well, there’s hope for tomorrow

Depends on the freight I guess. The loads are out there. Specialized freight could easily avg. $2.35 a mile to the truck.

Texas was always bad. $1.40 was best I ever did getting out of there. It's pretty bad right now but I still keep going. The Midwest is the best area. Make your money there and then take your lumps going home and coming back out.

I'll be in Temple sometime tomorrow myself.
