Seeking Alpha is very well respected amoung the financial and investment industry, as it is crowd sourced....far from click bait.
If the transportation freight volume as a whole slipped 3% in a month YOY, we'd be in the midst of a huge depression.

The increase in freight volume and rates were a combination of different factors starting in the fall of 2017 and carrying into 2018.

No one that I know ever thought that was sustainable. I didn't.

    Every business is cyclical...

What I've tried to do since jumping into the owner operator pool in 2015, is operate as if I were in the down cycle when times are good, bad or indifferent.

Watching your costs and tightening your belt are just as important during up times as they are down times.

I do hope this impending downturn washes out some of these yahoos that are willing to run for $1.00 a mile.

Man, for the life of me, how do they do it?

I don't know how they do it. I called on a load last week that weighed 44k, going 467 miles and they were paying $550. I asked how close to $1000 can they get and she said she moves it every week for $550. I told her no thanks, I'd rather dead head. I didn't have to but I would've before I hauled a load like that. If I'm gonna run for free or at a loss it won't be moving a load.
