That would be entirely up to you, do you have the desire to run OS/OD freight out of the gate?

Absolutely, I grew up on a farm driving wide farm equipment and pulled a rgn for a excavating company for a short while. Always loved the challenge, but not if the money is not there. I just want to be as flexible as I can.

Yes they have all that and more. And their prices are very fair. Though you don't have to have those or run oversize. And this last year most oversize loads wasn't paying worth a dime.

Ok flightline, I will probably still put some beacons on the truck to help with backing out of my driveway at home.

hi guys, ive been with mercer for 4 months and I love it.im leasing a flat from mercer,is really hard to get something good going to the Midwest out of my house(east pa)and even if something good comes on the board is either gone before it gets to me or I have to deadhead a good distance to get it.i found a good cheap low profile stepdeck 40 foot bottom.do you guys think that's a good move cause I see that stepdeck and dd freight stays longer on the board and pays a decent amount of money going where I like to run.also mercer have a poor freight base in Maryland(Baltimore)but when I look on internet truckstop or the landstar load board there is plenty of loads within a 100 miles from my house,is there a reason for that.(I was considering landstar or my own authority before leasing to mercer but I didn't want to buy a trailer cause im new to flatbedding).

I have a step and I'd still recommend a flat. I've been out east many times and I would've gotton out easier with a flat. Alot more flat freight vs stepdeck.
I only dont' switch because my trailer is paid for and I don't like change. I've heard landstar has more step freight but I drink mercer koolaid.

I've been pulling my flat lately I find it a lot easier to move freight if there asking for a flat it will work.

could I suggest going somewhere besides the Midwest when leaving the house? get out from the house then head to the Midwest, or maybe change your preferences for running, I follow the money , loading Friday from Atlanta to a little north of Trenton, nj off 295. let ya know what the reload will be. I wont be to picky to get from there to somewhere else either.

and remember the broker loads you see may well be cheap and not worth hauling and when you are home , work the board position to your advantage, when you are home a few days you should have a good spot, when I get to a top 5 position , I use it wisely. funny thing is I am already at #1 for a load Monday out of pa. reason, hazmat endorsement.
